In February 1998, we (Tony Frier & Greg Gude) moved to Jersey City from Tampa, FL. It didn't take us long to notice that there was no resource to get the healthy foods and supplies nearby that we were used to. Recognizing that if our own needs weren't being met, there were probably others in the same situation. So we first opened Fetch-It Pet Supplies in December 1998, on Sussex Street in Jersey City. The space was incredibly small so our inventory was as well. And we struggled on in this manner for a couple of years, gaining a list of happy clientele, alot of new friends and a good start to a new life in a new place. After our lease was up and the economy was in turmoil, we shut our store front in October 2001, continuing to offer monthly delivery service to customers.

On July 19, 2003 we were pleased to re-open our store front at the current, and much larger, more convenient location at 353 Second Street in Jersey City. It is at the cross-street triangle of Second, Newark, and Monmouth.

On July 9th, 2005 - we celebrated a soft opening of our new storefront, Fetch-It by the Park, at 228 7th street (7th & Erie) in Jersey City, and remained open while we moved our product and shelving in, to let the neighborhood get to know us better. The new store is much bigger and a wide open space. Adorned with tin ceilings and tile floor we hope it is a classy addition to the Hamilton Park neighborhood that will thrive with the many animal lovers around.

Our website has also continued to change and grow and in 2005 we added an Online Store and a community forum, we will continue posting products for sale online, even though it's slow going, and soon will be updating the site with more information about Fetch-It by the Park.

December 1st, 2006, we are hoping to open our 3rd store in Hoboken. As always, we still believe that pets are truly members of the family and the food, treats and supplies that they are given should reflect that. We carry only those things that are best for our friends and are continually searching for even better products. We are thrilled with all of the people that we have met and continue to meet (and their pets), and try to give back to the local community. It's the people that we deal with that make owning the store in Jersey City such a fantastic endeavor.

Since we've been here, our family has grown (as well as lost). Besides us, there is Wallace (most of you know her), Whisper, Wink, Willy, Wiggum, Witness, Weirdo, Wexler (cats); LaDee & Woofer (dogs); Wilma & Weezy (Guinea Pigs); Westerna (Rabbit); Fish , Winger (conure), Rascal (Ferret) & most recently - Wuzzy (Tarantula). All are rescues/abandoned/abused animals. Because there are so many more out there we began a local not-for-profit spay neuter organization: ARFF, Inc. and is another reason that we don't and won't sell animals for profit.
